Chequered Flag

Hello there!

I hope you like the new design of my blog. Did some major revamping. This was, however, an attempt to check out some themes for something new. I have been planning this for quite a bit of time now and I will write about it very soon so stay tuned for something big! Feel free to leave comments, suggestions and feedback in the comments section below.

As always, I’d like to thank all my followers and readers for taking time out of your lives and reading what I write. Also, a big thank you to helping Equinox cross a thousand hits!

Now to the matter at hand.

This is my final year in Engineering. In about 8 months I will graduate and I will be free as a bird, out there in the open sky, with no limits, just on my own. I cannot say it wasn’t fun, these past few years. I learned a lot about life, met some awesome people, encountered some incredible challenges and the list goes on.

Just when I am about to feel the excitement of finishing a chapter in my academic life, a sense of uncertainty is haunting me. This has been the case at every turning point in my academic career so far. The phase where I am supposed to make a life-changing decision is here once again. What I choose to do now, will assuredly change the foreseeable future of my life.

For the past few days, a couple of my friends were talking to me about how they had no clue what they were going to do after finishing college. Some of them, unfortunately, do not have the scores to secure a job interview, while some of them are yet to start thinking about their future. This is the case not only with the closest of my friends but in my whole ecosystem. There are people who are getting placed in companies without knowing what plans the professional world has for them. There are others who are freaking out thinking they will never get a job out of campus. There are yet others who are still oblivious to the fact that their life will undergo a tectonic shift in a couple of months, so God help them!

When I came across all these stories from these people, I, for once, was relieved thinking that I am not the only one who has all these thoughts and a blurry vision of the future. I was surrounded by people who were feeling the same. Although, personally I am glad that I have a plan in place. However abstract, it is still a plan.

To the people who are freaking out about their future, here is what I have to say – Calm Down.

There is no use in thinking about all the lectures you had bunked over the past few years and regretting not studying harder to get those few extra marks which would have secured you a job interview. What has happened, has happened and nobody can change it. It was you who made all those decisions and there is no point in crying over spilt milk. Your best bet now is to sit down and plan out your future the best way you possibly can with the time remaining. Remember this, the universe has a plan for you. Your story is already written and it is just a matter of time before all of it starts to unveil.

Having said that, I, in no way, am asking you to sit back and binge ‘Orange Is The New Black’ and wait for the universe to do your chores for you. It doesn’t work that way. Forget about the past 3 years. What you do in the next 6 to 8 months will essentially decide your future. Be it taking up a new course or landing an internship, the next few months is what that matters the most and it is up to you to decide how you want to use the time you have before you emerge out of the protective canopy of your college. All of this, of course, can only be achieved by not freaking out.

If you are incapable of putting together a plan in place, talk to people who are willing to help you. Do not be afraid to seek help from your friends and teachers. And most importantly, do not take any impetuous decisions without thinking it through. Things will work out eventually.

There will be light at the end of the tunnel.
